‘I love you so much, Dad…’: Waterloo Road’s Reece Douglas reveals his heartbreak as he shares emotional tribute after his father takes his own life — and vows to make him ‘so proud’ in moving message to fans… - suong
WATERLOO Road star Reece Douglas has shared the heartbreaking news that his dad has taken his own life.
The actor, who played Denzil Kelly on the BBC school drama from 2009 to 2012, took to social media with an emotional tribute.
Reece, 30, shared a photo of his beloved father and insisted that he’s going to make him “so proud”.
The special throwback picture showed Reece and his dad smiling on a day out together.
An emotional Reece captioned it: “I love you so much dad.
“Knowing my dad recently, more so than ever, never did I truly know he’d take his life.
“I’m going to make you so proud.”
Reece was flooded with touching words of support from his friends.
Former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Anthony Quinn wrote: “Sorry to hear the news mate. Sending love and thoughts to you and family.”
Emmerdale’s Danny Miller commented: “Oh mate I’m so sorry! Sending loads of love brother.”
Waterloo Road fans will remember actor Reece as troubled student Denzil, joining the cast in series four.
In the show Denzil struggled to adjust to Waterloo Road due to his chaotic family environment.
Denzil then became a part of one of the show’s saddest storylines when his character was killed in a lorry crash in series 7.
After Waterloo Road, Reece could be seen on screens on TV programmes such as Casualty, Doctors and Holby City.
The actor has an extensive career history – even rubbing shoulders with A- Lister Tom Cruise for the film Walking Against The Rain back in 2022.
Reece also bagged a lead role for the film Cleft Lip released on streaming platform Netflix in 2018.
Reece has now swapped acting for a brand new career in tech.
The soap star is the founder and CEO of his own tech start-up called The Social Plug which brings local businesses and social media creators together.
In an Interview with Tech Blast the TV star explained how he had to pursue other passions away from the risky business of showbiz: “At the outset I should say I am still an actor; but unless you’re in a soap, the work is never guaranteed – which means I have the time to pursue my other passion of business.”
“Contrary to popular belief most actors haven’t earned enough money to retire – I certainly haven’t!”
The actor turned business man revealed the real reason behind why he decided to start his tech company- because of a popular ITV2 dating show.
Reece admitted that he once turned down Love Island, which sparked the idea for his business: “In 2020 I was asked to appear on Love Island and blankly refused.
“I’d rather spend years building a small following than having hundreds of thousands of followers based on vanity instead of providing valuable knowledge.
“The idea for Social Plug actually came from my experiences on social media.”

She mirrored the comedian’s now iconic look with a massive pair of chunky glasses, even holding up a lantern too.
Sharing a short clip and some snaps with her 2.6million followers on Instagram, she wrote: “A trait(or) trick for you.

It went down a storm, with friends and fans left in hysterics at Amanda’s uncanny resemblance to TV traitor Alan.
“Brilliant,” commented Loose Women star Ruth Langsford.
The Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman herself left a flurry of love heart emojis in the post comments section.
Myleene Klass did the same, as Nicole Appleton showed she saw the funny side by posting a laughing face emoji.

The joke seemed to have landed with Alan, too, who was amongst the stars in the comments, saying, “This is brilliant!”
It’s no surprise he got her sense of humour as Amanda and Alan have been friends for years, filming TV series Italian Job together.
The Britain’s Got Talent star’s side-splitting impression comes after Alan appeared to rub viewers up the wrong way.
He and his fellow traitor Cat Burns were tasked by Claudia in last night’s episode to kill off another faithful in plain sight.
Alan famously caused a stir earlier this month when he knocked out his showbiz pal Paloma Faith in a similar fashion.
