Hurricane Melissa is on track to pummel the Bahamas and Bermuda with heavy rains, dangerous winds and flash floods as it rips through the Caribbean.
Melissa made landfall in eastern Cuba near the city of Chivirico early Wednesday as a Category 3 storm after having swept across Jamaica as one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record.
The hurricane, which had top sustained wind speeds of 115mph as it made its second landfall, is now expected to track towards the northeast, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Melissa will strike southeastern or central Bahamas as a strong Category 2 storm Wednesday, bringing a dangerous storm surge and strong gales.
The Bahamas could be pummeled with up to 10 inches of rain, which forecasters warn could trigger flash floods and landslides.
By Wednesday evening, Melissa is expected to continue northeast, accelerating over the open Atlantic Ocean, and strike Bermuda as a Category 1 hurricane on Thursday.
Officials warned the 'storm of the century' could take days or even weeks to recover in the worst-hit parts of the region.
Melissa has already been blamed for seven deaths in the Caribbean, including three in Jamaica, three in Haiti and one in the Dominican Republic, where another person remains missing.

JoJo told the crowd she had some 'guests of honor' in attendance for the show.
Chris, who himself surprised JoJo at the show by presenting her with flowers backstage, could be seen sat alongside his parents Val and Paul and his brother Ben in the venue, joined by the singer's parents Tom and Jessalynn.
Footage from the show then showed JoJo sharing a sweet nod to Chris' parents being in attendance, joking she was going to be on her 'best behavior'.
She said: 'Val give us your best wave from up there, do you have a good wave? In case that anybody doesn't know, that's the person who gave birth to my favorite person in the world. That's the mother of the boy that makes me really happy.

Hurricane Melissa leaves a trail of destruction in Jamaica as it hits Cuba with 120mph winds and heads to the Bahamas, which forecasters warn could trigger flash floods and landslides
'I'm very delighted to have the guests of honor tonight, Val and Paul Hughes everyone.'
'It's going to be a good show, I am on my best behavior this show,' JoJo added, with the crowd then launching into a sea of boos.
JoJo then hit back: 'Guys! My future mother and father in law are in the room. I can't full on freak too hard tonight.'
Ahead of the concert, Chris surprised JoJo backstage with a bouquet of flowers, admitting that he made the impromptu decision to come to the show as he wasn't going to see her 'for a little while.'
It comes after JoJo insisted that she is not straight following questions surrounding her sexuality, as she stated that her current relationship with boyfriend Chris does not negate her previous romances with women.
She previously came out as pansexual and had a number of public same-sex romances, before falling for Love Island star Chris while in the Celebrity Big Brother house in April and now identifies as queer.
While the loved-up couple's relationship has since gone from strength to strength, JoJo admitted she has experienced an 'extreme amount of hate' from the LGBTQ+ community for entering into a hetero romance.
Speaking on Sirius XM's Smith Sisters Live, she admitted: 'Nobody around me knows the extreme amount of hate that I've experienced from within the community.

'Just because I'm in a hetero relationship does not mean I'm straight. And okay, just say all of a sudden I said, ''yeah, I'm straight''. Awesome. Who cares? Great. Beautiful. I'm still an ally then.'
JoJo then clarified: 'I'm not straight. I mean, I am in love with a man. But my past doesn't get to be discredited though because of that.
'The first time I ever fell in love with somebody was with a woman. And she was my best friend. And we had an incredible relationship. I've obviously been in a relationship with other women and non-binary person and now I'm with a man.'
She added: 'I've never experienced a love like his. No-one has made me feel that way. It's so destined to be together and the best thing that's ever happened to me is falling in love with him.'
While the singer also gushed that Chris has always been supportive of her and how she identifies, recalling how he rushed to her defense in the CBB house after Mickey Rourke made a series of homophobic comments to her.
